The Centennial Scholarship 2020, valued at $9000, marks the 100 year anniversary of The Victorian Women Graduates Association (now Graduate Women Victoria).

Ingrid, a student in the Neurodevelopment and Neuroprotection research group, said the scholarship would help her to financially support herself and her family throughout her PhD studies, including living, transport and educational material expenses.

“I would like to thank Graduate Women Victoria and its donors for the advocacy and support provided to women pursuing their education and career goals,” Ingrid said. “Their work enables us to lead successful and meaningful careers.
“I am passionate about the purpose and values of Graduate Women Victoria and am therefore honoured to be receiving this award.
“Congratulations to all the deserving awardees. I am in awe of the resilience, strength, hard work and dedication exemplified by everyone who presented at the recent 2020 Graduate Women Victoria virtual awards ceremony. This was an incredible, unique and uplifting experience and the stories shared were truly inspiring.”

The Centennial Scholarship is awarded to a scientist who demonstrates that their study and career plans support the purposes of Graduate Women Victoria. This includes the right of women and girls to accessible and affordable quality education to reach their full potential in private and public life, education as a means of influencing and benefiting society, the recognition and protection of human rights, and peace, justice and equality.
