Input wanted on Town Square upgrade

Locals are encouraged to have their say on plans to upgrade Town Square at a community consultation session this weekend.

Town Square is set to receive a $1.2 million facelift as part of Council’s broader Central Business District Master Plan.

Adelaide-based Urban design firm Jensen Plus has been working with locals and businesses to create initial concepts for the redevelopment, and they are keen to have further discussions with the community in Town Square between 9am-1pm on Saturday, July 1.

Council’s Director Infrastructure & Environment, Codie Howard, said the session would allow Jensen Plus to settle on a final concept and create a detailed design from which to go to tender.

“The Jensen Plus team have so far come up with three concept designs that will be on show on Saturday, so I’d encourage everyone with an interest in Town Square to come along and give feedback,” he said.

“The final design won’t necessarily be one of the three concepts however; we’ll take in everyone’s input and come up with a design that incorporates the most popular aspects and components from each of the three concept designs that will be on show.

“The Town Square is a key feature of the CBD and is currently more popular than ever, so it’s exciting to be able to work toward a new design to reinvigorate that space for local families and tourists.”
