Inquiries underway after man shot at Central Coast home, NSW

An investigation is underway into the shooting of a man at a home on the Central Coast this morning.

Emergency services were called to the home on Mountain View Drive, Woongarrah, shortly before 3.30am (Wednesday 25 December 2019), after neighbours reported hearing a gunshot.

Police arrived and found a 33-year-old resident with a gunshot wound to his right hip.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers have been told the man was asleep in his home when he was woken by two intruders who then shot him before running from the house.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries are now underway by detectives from Tuggerah Lakes Police District.

The men have been described only as having worn dark clothing.
