Investigation continues after teen dies when car hits fence in Northern Beaches

Investigations are continuing after a teenager died in a single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

Emergency services were called to Caladenia Close at Elanora Heights about 11.20pm yesterday (Saturday 18 July 2020), after a Holden Commodore hit a sandstone boundary fence.

A rear passenger, a 19-year-old man, was found suffering critical head injuries.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics rendered assistance to the teen; however, he died at the scene.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for mandatory testing.

The four surviving passengers – three 16-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl – were also taken to hospital to be checked as precaution.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene which has been forensically examined by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Inquiries are continuing.
