A man is facing charges, and inquiries are continuing to locate another, following an armed robbery in the state’s south west late last year.
About 6am Monday 9 December 2019, two men attended a grocery store on Gregory Street, Lake Albert.
One of the men allegedly produced a shotgun before stealing cigarettes and cash.
The two men fled the scene in a white Jeep Cherokee believed to be stolen. Police engaged in a pursuit with the vehicle and terminated it shortly after for safety reasons.
The car was later found abandoned in Adams Street, Ashmont.
Officers from Riverina Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following extensive inquiries by detectives, a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 28-year-old man.
On Monday 16 December 2020, a 28-year-old man was arrested in Victoria for unrelated matters.
When those matters are finalised, it’s expected NSW detectives will apply for extradition and the man will be charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.
The second man, who is yet to be located by police, was wearing a dark hooded jumper, dark coloured cap with a faded circle on the peak, khaki pants and black gloves at the time of the alleged incident.
Inquiries are continuing to locate the man, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
