Investigations continue after three injured in head-on crash at Ballina, NSW

Investigations are continuing after a man was airlifted to hospital suffering serious injuries in a crash on the state’s Far North Coast yesterday.

About 6.15am (Saturday 14 November 2020), emergency services were called to the Bruxner Highway at West Ballina, following reports a Subaru XV and Mazda BT50 had collided head-on.

The Subaru driver, an 85-year-old man, was trapped for a short time before being released.

The Brisbane man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the Mazda, a 62-year-old man, and his female passenger, aged 63, both from Clontarf in Queensland, were also treated at the scene before being transferred to Lismore Base Hospital, where they are being treated for multiple fractures. Their condition is reported to be stable.

Officers attached to the Far North Coast Crash Investigation Unit attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surround the crash.
