Investigations underway after suspected shooting in Bonnyrigg

An investigation has commenced after reports of a shooting at Bonnyrigg Heights yesterday.

Police have been told two men, described as Middle Eastern/Mediterranean in appearance, were involved in an argument with a Caucasian man on Middlehope Street about 12.30pm (Monday 15 June 2020).

During the argument it’s believed a gun was produced and fired towards the Caucasian man.

He was seen to run from the area; it’s unclear if he was injured.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were called and commenced inquiries at the Middlehope Street location.

Officers then established a second crime scene at Chaffey Park, Bonnyrigg Heights, after a pistol and ammunition were found.

Detectives are calling for anyone who may have information that could assist to contact them at Fairfield Police Station, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
