- Construction tender awarded for $24.5 million Cook Labor Government upgrade at Piara Waters Primary School
- Project will deliver brand new double-storey building with 14 general classrooms
- Upgrades are anticipated to be completed in late 2028
Major new facilities are a step closer to being delivered at Piara Waters Primary School, with the construction tender now awarded to Universal Constructions Pty Ltd.
The significant Cook Labor Government project will deliver a brand new $24.5 million double-storey building with two kindergarten/pre-primary classrooms, 14 general classrooms, and a science room.
A new car park will also be provided to support the school’s increased capacity.
Designed by T&Z Architects, the project – which is expected to be completed in late 2028 – will enable transportable classrooms to be removed from the school site.
The upgrades will help Piara Waters Primary School meet enrolment growth, with more families choosing to call the south-eastern suburb home.
It forms part of the Cook Labor Government’s record investment of $6.4 billion in education infrastructure, helping to ensure Western Australian families have access to high-quality public schools close to where they live.
As stated by Education Minister Sabine Winton:
“I’m excited that these major upgrades for Piara Waters students, staff, and families have reached the next phase of delivery.
“These new classrooms will provide students with modern learning spaces to support their education.
“By investing in modern school facilities, we are helping to create learning environments where students can be inspired, experiment with new ideas, and pursue their interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.”
As stated by Oakford MLA Yaz Mubarakai:
“Piara Waters is a growing community, and it is important our local schools have the facilities they need to keep pace with that growth.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Piara Waters Primary School community and will ensure students and staff have the facilities they need as the school continues to grow.
“I am proud to be part of a State Government that is investing in education infrastructure to support Western Australian students and families.”
As stated by Jandakot MLA Stephen Pratt:
“This investment is great news for local families, and these new facilities will benefit the school community for generations to come.
“I am looking forward to seeing construction get underway, which will bring this significant project another step closer to reality for students, staff and the local community.”
