Investing in Culture: Creative Industries Arts Projects Awarded

The Territory Labor Government continues to invest in the arts and cultural industry across the Northern Territory to create more local jobs, build capacity and showcase our creative excellence to the world.

Funding of $200 000 to support thirteen Territory artists has been announced as part of the Creative Industries Arts Projects grants program.

The program supports arts projects that present and promote Territory arts practice including new artworks and skills development for established and emerging artists, and is assessed by a panel of experienced community arts leaders from the NT register of arts peers.

Territory dance icon Gary Lang and his NT Dance Company in collaboration with Miku Performing Arts from North East Arnhem Land, have received funding for a month of rehearsals for the dance work, Forbidden, and the much-loved Arafura Music Ensemble has been funded to present the 2020 Concert Series program.

Territory songstress, Stevie Jean, who received critical acclaim for her recent debut EP, Blame Game, will receive support for a new album due for release late next year.

NT screenwriter Philip Denson has received a grant to tour his play ‘Singularity’ around the Northern Territory. Mr Denson was selected by Oscar-award winning Producer/Director Ron Howard earlier this year to participate in the Imagine Impact screen initiative.
