Investing in research that delivers results

The Morrison Government is investing in innovative research that will deliver benefits to health, industry and the environment while also creating jobs and business opportunities.

Minister for Education Dan Tehan today announced the Morrison Government would provide $24.1 million to support six new Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centres that would bring together universities and the private sector to collaborate on research projects.

“We are supporting university-based researchers to work with industry to find practical solutions to a range of important challenges we face in Australia,” Mr Tehan said.

“This is research that will have practical applications that benefit Australia, including job creation, economic growth, productivity gains and improvements to medical treatment and the environment.

“Our Government is strategically investing in partnerships between universities, industry and government to drive the commercialisation of research.

“Australia must get better at commercialising our research and better at turning ideas into jobs, productivity gains and growth.”
