The Allan Labor Government continues to back our vibrant multicultural communities, with a dedicated grant program for Chinese community organisations to build and upgrade their community buildings and facilities.
Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt today attended the 2024 Moon Festival Opening Ceremony, hosted by the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse to announce the opening of the new Chinese Community Infrastructure Fund.
The fund will support access to culturally appropriate spaces for Chinese Victorians to connect with community, maintain a sense of belonging and preserve and celebrate culture and traditions.
Grants of up to $400,000 are available to support the upgrade, renovation, extension or construction of buildings and facilities. Applications from regional and rural Chinese communities will be prioritised.
The Chinese Community Infrastructure Fund is part of the Labor Government’s $40 million investment through the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund to build, upgrade and renovate community infrastructure for multicultural and multifaith communities.
Organisations including Avalokitesvara Yuan Tong Monastery, Golden Dragon Museum and Chinese Association of Victoria Incorporated received funding for a variety of projects in the most recent round of the Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund.
Since 2014, the Labor Government has invested more than $88 million to deliver more than 560 multicultural community infrastructure projects which have benefitted thousands of Victorians.
Victoria’s diversity is one of our greatest strengths and the Labor Government continues to back our multicultural communities through programs like the Chinese Community Infrastructure Fund – enabling them to maintain, upgrade and deliver infrastructure to bring communities together.
Applications are open now and close on Monday, 2 December 2024.
