Police brought Christmas cheer to shoppers at the Commissioner’s Christmas Concert yesterday (December 7) at the Queen Street Mall stage, Brisbane City.

The concert saw performances from four Queensland Police Service (QPS) founded bands, including the Melody in Blue, QPS Pipes and Drums, the Junior Pipes and Drums and Band of Blue.

The Melody in Blue choir was initially formed in 1997 and includes both sworn police officers and civilian QPS staff.

Commissioner Katarina Carroll even joined the Melody in Blue choir for a carol!

“It makes me so proud of our officers and staff who give it their all to make this unique experience a success each year,” the Commissioner said.

“The concert also provides us with a special way to interact with the people of Queensland that we serve, in a way that many don’t expect.”

The Queensland Police Pipes and Drums (QPP&D) celebrated its 65th anniversary this year and performs ceremonial duties at many events across the State, including performing at Government House for the Coronation of King Charles III.

The QPP&D also delivers crime prevention messaging to primary schools through the “Kops in Kilts” concert program and engages with high school students through the “School Rocks” program.

The Band of Blue (BoB) can be seen performing at several events across Queensland, including charity and public events, to build and strengthen positive relationships between police and the community.

Community Supporting Police and Crimestoppers Queensland were also getting into the Christmas spirit, with merchandise and handy information for members of the public.
