It’s official – Liberals support health cuts

Tasmanian Labor
  • Labor motion to quarantine health from cuts defeated
  • Liberals fail to listen to concerns of experts
  • Tens of millions of dollars to be cut from health
  • The Liberals this afternoon voted against Labor’s motion calling for Tasmania’s hospitals and health system to be quarantined from the Government’s $450 million cuts to the public sector.

Shadow Health Minister Sarah Lovell said the Liberals had failed to listen to serious concerns raised by many Tasmanian health experts.

“Every Liberal MP, including Speaker Sue Hickey, should hang their heads in shame,” Ms Lovell said.

“The Liberals this afternoon voted for more needless deaths in our hospitals.

“They voted for longer ambulance response times and longer elective surgery waiting lists.

“They voted to push hardworking doctors, nurses, paramedics and health professionals past the point of exhaustion.

“Will Hodgman’s chaotic, dysfunctional government is determined to further damage our health system and they don’t even seem to care.”
