Nature lovers and green thumbs are invited to help make Hobsons Bay a little greener on National Tree Day.
On Sunday 30 July, residents can join Council’s conservation rangers in planting 2,000 native plants at Altona Coastal Park to support our local wildlife.
Hobsons Bay is home to many significant environmental parklands and National Tree Day is a chance to improve these beautiful natural assets while having fun and enjoying the community spirit.
The planting will occur from 10am to 12pm, followed by a free barbecue lunch. Roving entertainment, a plant giveaway and a free coffee van will also be part of the day, so people can bring their own keep cups to help reduce rubbish.
A shuttle bus will ferry people from the car park to the planting site. As the planting site is just off the Bay Trail West bike path, people could ride their bikes to reduce emissions.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear, and bring a water bottle and gloves, if you have them. All tools, plants and equipment will be provided.
