JACET Arrest At Casuarina

Northern Territory Police have charged a 28-year-old man with child exploitation offences in Darwin.

On Friday 1 March 2024, The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET) conducted an arrest operation at a shopping centre on Trower Road, Casuarina.

The 28-year-old was arrested at the location after allegedly attempting to meet up with a child under the age of 16 for sexual activity.

He has since been charged with:

  • Use carriage service to procure person under 16
  • Transmit indecent communication to person under 16

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Sergeant Mark Cronin said “This arrest serves as a timely reminder to all parents to consider their children’s online safety by reviewing their children’s online activity and the social media platforms that they use.

“The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team will continue to proactively disrupt this sort of the behaviour throughout the Territory.”
