JSHealth Vitamins fined $13,320 for alleged unlawful supply of a complementary medicine

TGA

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), has issued an infringement notice for $13,320 to Sydney company JSHealth Vitamins Pty Ltd for an alleged breach of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

JSHealth Vitamins supplied a complementary medicine that the TGA alleges did not conform with legal requirements. The medicine included the ingredient Andrographis paniculata (Green chiretta), which may cause taste disturbance, including loss of taste. However, the label of the medicine did not include the required warning statement on the label advising of this nor did JSHealth Vitamins Pty Ltd have consent to supply the medicine without this statement.

If you suspect non-compliance in relation to therapeutic goods, you can report illegal or questionable practices online to the TGA.
