K’gari Fraser Island at 7.15pm Wed 9 Dec

Bushfire warning level: ADVICE

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) advises there is a bushfire on K’gari (Fraser Island).

You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes.

Currently as at 7.15pm Wednesday 9 December, a bushfire is burning in several locations on K’gari (Fraser Island).

Fire crews, supported by aircraft where required, are continuing to manage the fire and patrol the fireground in numerous locations across the island.

People on the island and in adjacent mainland areas will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.

Travel to the island remains restricted to local residents, essential service providers and emergency services only.

For a full list of track closures and further information regarding travel restrictions and permit conditions go to www.parks.des.qld.gov.au.
