Kerri Riddington elected as Deputy Mayor

Kempsey Shire boasts a new Deputy Mayor after Kerri Riddington was elected to the role on Tuesday.

Among the items outlined in the agenda for the August ordinary meeting, Councillors elected a Deputy Mayor as is required annually.

Councillor Anthony Patterson, the incumbent Deputy Mayor, stepped down from the role and was thanked by Council. He remains a Councillor..

Council conducted an election for the position of Deputy Mayor who will serve the role until the next Local Government election.

The vote saw Councillor Kerri Riddington elected to Deputy Mayor.

The new Deputy Mayor thanked her fellow Councillors.

“Thank you very much Mr Mayor and fellow councillors, I really hope that we can work through the next year in a collegiate way,” said Cr Riddington.

“I feel that I can bring years of experience both in the private and public sector to the role. I’m about listening. I’m about communication. I’ve tried to work really hard for the community. I bring a level head. I also bring a friendly and approachable nature.”
