  • Queensland is open for business and the Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy by backing the resources industry.
  • The Crisafulli Government is rebuilding strategic relationships and unlocking international opportunities for Queensland miners after Labor’s decade of decline

The Crisafulli Government is delivering investment opportunities and reestablishing vital trading relationships, with the first Resources and Mines Minister-led trade mission to Indonesia in 17 years now underway.

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last will lead the Trade Mission focused on positioning Queensland as a reliable investment partner, supplier of high-quality coal and destination for critical minerals mining and processing, to secure more investment and local jobs for regional Queensland.

During the former Labor Government’s decade of decline, international relationships were neglected, major economic opportunities missed and Queensland’s export potential sat idle.

The mission will also explore opportunities to drive growth, innovation and competitiveness in the mining equipment, technology and services sector.

The Minister will meet with Indonesian Government officials, investment partners, major resources operators and visit one of the world’s largest open-pit thermal coal mines.

Minister Last said the Trade Mission is indicative of the Crisafulli Government’s ongoing commitment to the resources industry and supporting regional Queensland with jobs and investment.

“This is the first time in 17 years that a Resources and Mines Minister has led a Trade Mission focused on strengthening the mining and manufacturing bonds between Queensland and Indonesia,” Minister Last said.

“My message is simple: Queensland is open for business. We welcome your investment, we have the resources, the skilled workforce and a government that is driving more investment in our State and genuinely supports resources development.

“By strengthening ties with Indonesia, we are laying the foundation for more resilient supply chains, greater market access and stronger relationships, to deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.”
