Kiama welcomes new Council

On behalf of all of the staff of Kiama Municipal Council and Blue Haven, we say congratulations and welcome to our newly elected Councillors.

The makeup of thenext Kiama Council has been confirmed following the counting of preferential votes.

Our newly elected Councillor team will consist of the following:

  • Kathy Rice (returning)
  • Neil Reilly (returning)
  • Matt Brown (returning)
  • Karen Renkema-Lang (new)
  • Jodi Keast (new)
  • Imogen Draisma (new)
  • Mark Croxford (new)
  • Stuart Larkins (new)
  • Warren Steel (returning)

Results were announced this afternoon. There is now a 24 hour window for anyone to object and demand a recount.

The successful candidates will officially become Councillors when they are sworn in by the CEO at the first ordinary meeting of Council to be held on Tuesday 11 January.

At that first meeting the new Councillors will also vote for a Mayor and Deputy Mayor, as well as establish a meeting schedule.

CEO of Kiama Council Jane Stroud said “I offer my sincere congratulations to all the elected Councillors and thank all those who ran in the local elections. I look forward to working alongside you all throughout the next term of Council.”

Behind the scenes a comprehensive induction program is being finalised to help welcome the new Councillors as well as outline the wide range of services, facilities and legislative responsibilities that Kiama Council undertakes.
