The Rockhampton Region is brimming with major projects right now, and Rockhampton Regional Council is teaming up with major players in the resource and civil construction industries to ensure local workers are best placed to take advantage of the opportunities on offer.
A specialised Careers Expo will be held Friday 16 October, offering school leavers, job seekers and career changers the opportunity to connect with major contractors in the Region.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the Resource and Construction Industries are both rapidly growing, and this event is a great opportunity to expose employment and career opportunities within these sectors.
“The vast number of projects has already created many jobs for the Region, but skill shortages in these industries is clear,” Mayor Strelow said.
“Rockhampton is well positioned in terms of location, expertise and readiness as a key service hub for these major projects and providing a candidate pool will be extremely beneficial for the Region.
“We are expecting over 30 exhibitors to attend and appreciate the support from major advocates such as Adani, Laing O’Rourke and McCosker’s who are also exhibiting on the day.”
The event will feature a variety of interactive activities from equipment demonstrations to machinery displays as well as talks from industry representatives.
The Careers Expo will be held at Adani Arena from 9am to 4pm. Entry is free and the event will be operated under a COVID Safe Event Checklist.
