Casey Opens Old Cheese Factory’s Newest Community Space

The City of Casey’s historic Old Cheese Factory celebrated the opening of its new multipurpose room this week, the first of many gatherings destined to be held in the new community space.

The $2.2 million project was delivered as part of Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works program and replaces the former function room that was no longer meeting the community’s needs.

The new purpose-built facility includes an open community space large enough to hold community programs, weddings and functions, a prayer room, kitchen, a spacious deck, new accessible amenities, new pathways and accessible parking.

Ward Councillor, Scott Dowling said the purpose-built facility was a wonderful community asset that would serve the community for many years to come.

“This new space, with its spacious design and beautiful deck overlooking the gardens, is the start of a new chapter for this historic place,” Cr Dowling said.

“This has always been a place where people come together to learn, create, celebrate and connect. This beautiful building is a wonderful addition that reflects everything we love about the Old Cheese Factory.

“As a venue for workshops, meetings, community programs or special occasion celebrations, the new building provides a flexible and welcoming space for people to come together.”

The facility is already being used by several community groups and clubs each week and will also be available for community hire from November via Council’s website.
