Kingsley Fatal Crash Charges

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section have charged a 45-year-old Banksia Grove man in relation to a fatal crash in Kingsley on Sunday 9 October 2022.
About 4:50am, an 86-year-old man was riding a black electric bicycle on Mitchell Freeway. He was involved in a crash with a vehicle near the Hepburn Avenue exit. It will be alleged the driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render assistance to him.
The 86-year-old man died at the scene.
Yesterday, Monday 10 October 2022, officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section arrested the 45-year-old man and seized a damaged silver Mitsubishi ASX from his residence. It will be further alleged the man provided false information to the owner of the vehicle to explain the damage sustained in the crash, information which was subsequently included in an insurance claim.
The 45-year-old Banksia Grove man has been charged with:
– Driver failed to stop and ensure assistance received after incident occasioning death;
– Driver fail to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm; and
– Attempted to pervert the course of justice.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 11 October 2022.
