Knox’s First Sensory Garden Opens

Knox is proud to welcome a calming new space to the community – our first sensory garden. Thoughtfully designed to support wellbeing, connection and inclusion for people of all ages.

Located at 51 Kleinert Road, Boronia, the project is the result of a partnership between Council and Knox Community Gardens, building on an already much-loved local space.

By enhancing the existing garden, the collaboration has created a richer, more inclusive environment where visitors can connect with nature in meaningful ways.

The garden has been carefully designed to engage the senses – with fragrant plants, textured foliage, vibrant colours and edible features that invite people to smell, see, touch and taste. Alongside the planting, new elements such as clear wayfinding, additional seating and inclusive design features ensure the space can be enjoyed by everyone.

Sensory gardens are known for their therapeutic benefits, particularly for people living with dementia, mental health challenges, disability or social isolation. Gentle sensory stimulation can help reduce stress, spark memories, improve mood and encourage relaxation.

Community members, groups and organisations are warmly invited to experience the garden.
