KPMG is supporting business through these extraordinary times

Here at KPMG Darwin, we are proud to work with Territory enterprises and support them through this COVID-19 economic crisis.

I wanted to briefly let all the PCNT members know about some of our partnerships with the NT Government and how individual assistance may be available to you, your business or your tenants.

Firstly, Tourism NT is funding KPMG to do free business assessments for businesses, event organisers and suppliers in tourism or who are dependent on tourist dollars.

To date, this has included a lot of the NT’s small business tourist operators (e.g. field guides, accommodation, fishing trips etc.). But our team has also met with a number of cafes and restaurants whose businesses have been impacted by a lack of tourists.

Generally, our consultations are focused on assisting businesses with strategies to survive the next 6, 12 months and beyond. The focus of the consultation is driven by the business and their key concerns, which primarily include cashflow and financial stress, marketing and communications, strategies to increase patronage, and overall concerns with the state of the tourist economy.

Each business receives a tailored list of areas to focus on, with key actions, following the consultations. Businesses can register an EOI to participate through this link:

Secondly, KPMG is also delivering services in partnership with the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation to any and all businesses eligible for other Government assistance programs. In particular, our staff have completed numerous engagements over the past 10 years through the NT Government funded Territory Business Growth Program. We’d be more than happy to discuss what grants and support may be available to any business who might be interested.

Finally, one more important thing. At KPMG Darwin, we understand that it may be tough to seek assistance and talk about the stressful position you are in – through no fault of your own. But for lots of people who’ve come to see us, the experience has been really positive. This is an excerpt of a feedback email I received today:

“… the best advice received was [the] insistence that she participate in the KPMG 2 hour [tourism support] business advice session. She was very reluctant to take it up and right up to the point of interview didn’t want to do it. In the end it was the advice obtained here that has had a dramatic change in attitude and outlook. They are now much better prepared”

Please feel free to reach out to me or my team anytime.

Kind regards,

Derek Campbell
