La Trobe rises in Golden Age rankings

La Trobe University has risen seven places in the 2020 Times Higher Education Golden Age rankings, named 45th in the world, sixth in Australia and second in Victoria.

The Golden Age refers to universities established between 1945 to 1967, during the post-world war two expansion of higher education across the world.

La Trobe Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Susan Dodds said the University is proud to have improved its position for the second consecutive year.

“Through the Golden Age rankings and the other major global rankings, La Trobe is consistently recognised as a leading university on the world stage,” Professor Dodds said.

“Our strong positioning is testament to the excellence of our teaching, the impact of our research and the strength of our industry partnerships. La Trobe is an innovative University, responsive to change and committed to making a difference – a crucial quality required now more than ever.”

La Trobe is one of 308 universities from 56 countries included in the Golden Age list. The rankings use the same methodology as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings to assess universities on 13 rigorous performance indicators including teaching, research and industry engagement and income.

La Trobe continues to sit in the top 400 universities in the world in all three major global rankings – the QS, Times Higher Education and Academic Ranking of World Universities.

La Trobe University is also ranked fourth in the world and first in Victoria for overall contribution to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals in the latest Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, and first in the world for gender equality and second for its contribution to health and well-being.
