NSW Opposition leader Jodi McKay has called on Premier Gladys Berejiklian to resign after her hearing at the Independent Commission Against Corruption today.
“Gladys Berejiklian cannot walk in to the parliament tomorrow as Premier of NSW, given her evidence at ICAC today. She must resign,” Jodi McKay tweeted.
“Her political judgement has been poor; her behaviour has been reckless. She has known her own dirty little secrets,” she told reporters later.
Gladys Berejiklian admitted to the corruption watchdog she was, since the 2015 election up until August, in a close personal relationship with former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire, who had to resign in 2018 after a corruption scandal.
The commission heard a series of tapped phone calls between Ms Berejiklian and Mr Maguire from 2017 to 2018.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the news “was a surprise to many people” and he wouldn’t make further commentary.
