Labor civil war continues

Nic Street, Leader of the House

Revelations in today’s Australian* that David O’Byrne will be ‘dumped by the party’ and blocked from running for Labor at the next election confirm that Labor’s civil war shows no sign of slowing down.

Leader of the House Nic Street said while Labor are only focused on themselves and their internal divisions, our Government is getting things done and delivering for Tasmanians.

“This Is just the latest example of Labor’s toxic culture that is only focused on division and tearing people down,” the Minister said.

“The situation is so bad that Federal Labor were forced to engineer a hostile takeover, placing the party under mainland leadership until 2025.

“Was this a pre-emptive strike against Mr O’Byrne, who continues to have the backing of key Labor figures, including Senator Carol Brown and left-wing unions?

“What role did Rebecca White or Mr O’Byrne’s Franklin rival, Dean Winter, play in this fiasco?

“While Labor continue to focus on themselves, it is clear that only a Liberal Government will continue to get things done and deliver the things Tasmanians care about.”
