Labor has no credibility when it comes to the Budget and fiscal management.
In their last term of Government, Labor and the Greens drove Tasmania into recession, they broke the Budget, and 10,000 Tasmanians lost their jobs.
Eight years later, it’s clear Labor still have no vision or plan.
On one hand Dr Broad complains about the Government borrowing to fund our job-creating infrastructure program when interest rates have been at historically low levels.
On the other hand Rebecca White is calling for massive extra spending that will cost the Budget hundreds of millions of dollars in recurrent spending.
Unless Labor can explain what they would cut or what taxes they would increase, we are seeing the return of Bec-onomics.
For eight years, Labor has failed to deliver a costed alternative Budget in Tasmania – something we did in Opposition, and even the Greens do now.
It’s time Rebecca White and Shane Broad were honest with Tasmanians, come clean on where they stand and deliver their first alternative Budget next Tuesday.
