Labor’s Hypocrisy On Election Commitments

Liberal Tasmania
  • Michael Ferguson Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Minister for Planning, Member for Bass
  • This is another case of Ms White demanding “do as I say, not as I do.”

After launching a bizarre attack on the Liberals for listening to communities and responding to their needs, Labor’s Rebecca White admitted that Labor has a community election fund process of its own.

“The Labor Party has been very open about the fact that we’re calling for submissions from the community,” Ms White told journalists yesterday.

    Say that again?

So Mr Winter did, telling journalists later yesterday: “(Labor) have established a proper process based on needs.”

Labor can’t have it both ways.

The Liberals have a strict, clear and transparent process for formulating and fully costing its election commitments.

We listen to local communities and work with them to ensure funding is allocated in accordance with local priorities.

Just as MPs should do. It’s their job.

All Liberal commitments then are subject to scrutiny and approval by both houses of Parliament.

It’s time Labor explained to Tasmanians its process for determining its election commitments.

And has all its promises independently costed.
