Labor’s job-destroying 42nd new tax

Liberal Party Victoria

On the eve of 2014 election, Daniel Andrews promised not to increase taxes, or to introduce any new ones:

“I make that promise, Peter, to every single Victorian.” – Daniel Andrews, 7 News, 28 November 2014.

The new tax announced on business today is the 42nd time Mr Andrews has broken this solemn promise.

Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said; “Paid sick leave for casual workers might appear positive – but someone’s got to pay for it.

“Just as businesses struggle to recover and rebuild from Daniel Andrews’ world record lockdowns, this new tax will cost jobs.

“It will make it even harder for businesses to afford to take on staff. It’s not much good talking about paid sick leave if you can’t get a job in the first place.

“Last month, it was new home buyers being slugged $20,0000 to pay for Mr Andrews’ social housing dream.

“Today, it is small business being slugged – the very same small business owners that Mr Andrews has already smashed with his world record 262 days of lockdown.

“It’s the same old Labor – they are addicted to new taxes.”
