Labor’s tireless negativity

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

The only thing tired in Tasmania is Labor and the O’Byrnes’ constant pessimism and negativity.

Today, Tasmania’s economy was confirmed by the ANZ Stateometer as accelerating, and the only jurisdiction in the country to see above trend growth, yet Labor are still whingeing.

The fact that the Stateometer Report found Tasmania leads the nation in improved business conditions shows how hard Tasmanians are working together to recover and rebuild from COVID-19.

While Labor snipes from the sidelines, we continue to deliver our plan, today alone announcing that Tasmania is now 100 per cent self-sufficient in renewable energy, confirming our status as a world leader in renewable energy generation and that we’ve reached a landmark agreement with the Morrison Government to deliver a $16 million boost for the state’s recycling industry, creating jobs and reducing pressure on the environment.

We are delivering a landmark $5 billion job-creating infrastructure program to bolster confidence and benefit the Tasmanian community, and nationally recognised reports, such as the ANZ Statometer and recent NAB business confidence survey show this is working.

Tasmanians see through Labor’s tired old lines which they rinse and repeat at every opportunity to detract from the fact they have no plan and no alternative budget.

We will continue to focus on creating jobs and building confidence to rebuild a stronger Tasmania. Our record on protecting the health and safety of Tasmanians and rebuilding our economy stands on its own – unfortunately we can’t say the same for tired, old Labor.
