After 11 years of the Liberals, the cost of everything is going up – and Tasmanians are being left behind.
Labor will act straight away and provide cost of living relief to all Tasmanians.
Labor will:
- Cap power price rises for every Tasmanian, so Tasmanians can manage their bills without the fear of sudden hikes.
- Give every child a $100 sports voucher, to help families cover the cost of extracurricular activities and promote healthy, active lifestyles.
- Freeze car rego for every Tasmanian, to help families keep more money in their pockets.
- Half-price car rego for apprentices, to ease pressure on young people training for our future workforce.
- Guarantee minimum monthly billing options for all major expenses, giving Tasmanians the choice to pay big bills in smaller, manageable instalments – at no extra cost.
Under Labor all Tasmanians will automatically have the option to pay all key government bills at least monthly – including car regos which can currently only be paid quarterly and carries extra costs for doing so. Guaranteed minimum monthly billing options will help households smooth out their expenses across the year and support small business owners managing cash flow.
The Liberals have created a Tasmanian budget crisis that risks the services Tasmanians rely on if we don’t get on a fix it. But there is also a household budget crisis where Tasmanian families are under enormous pressure.
Labor’s cost of living plan is fully funded with sensible savings found in our plan to fix the budget. We will pay for our cost of living plan by making smarter choices – like scrapping the Liberals’ $10 million dinner voucher scheme and ensuring publicly owned assets like Hydro work for Tasmanians, not against them.
These targeted measures will make a difference for thousands of households – keeping essential costs in check and giving households the certainty they need to plan ahead.
Only Labor has a plan to ease cost of living pressure while also fixing the budget and protecting or public assets. We know that keeping Tasmanian assets in Tasmanian hands ensures we can keep costs down on essential services.
After 11 years of the Liberals, Tasmanians can’t afford another four years of more debt, more cost increases, and more mismanagement. The only way to change the government – and get a Fresh Start – is to vote Labor.
