Last chance to nominate

Time is running out to nominate someone you think should be Logan’s top citizen.

The prestigious Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards are given to the City of Logan’s top two citizens on Australia Day, January 26.

The awards recognises those who have served their community with pride and helped make Logan an even better place to live.

One such person is the 2019 Young Citizen of the Year, Charlie Johnstone.

Charlie regularly collects unsold bread from retailers and packages it for distribution to needy members of the community.

He’s also a top notch student who recently had lunch with NASA astronauts after winning an academic contest.

“Winning Young Citizen of the Year was a big honour and it highlighted the work I was doing and the causes I support,” he said.

“I’d encourage anyone who knows someone who is making a difference in our community to nominate.”

Charlie recently spoke at the Youth Entrepreneurs Summit (YES) at Redlands and hosted his own entrepreneurs summit.

All category winners will be selected by an independent committee.

Nominations close Friday, December 6.

Nominations forms can be found at https://www.logan.qld.gov.au/about-logan/awards/australia-day-awards/nomination-form

The winners of both categories will be announced at the City of Logan’s official Australia Day function at the Logan Entertainment Centre on Saturday, January 26, 2020.
