Launceston CIB investigating two shooting incidents

Launceston CIB officers are investigating two shooting incidents, believed to be unrelated, that occurred yesterday.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding both incidents, including whether the injuries may have been accidental or whether there are suspicious circumstances.

About 4.45pm a 22 year old man presented to the Launceston General Hospital with a bullet wound to his groin. He was taken for surgery and remains in a stable condition.

About 7pm ambulance officers attended a house in Rocherlea where a 20 year old man was found with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition. A modified double barrel shotgun has been seized by police.

Initial investigations indicate that the two incidents are unrelated, however detectives are exploring all possibilities.
