Legacy Week begins today, the time for all Australians to show their support for the widows and children whose loved ones have served our country.
Minister for Veterans David Harris will join members of the veteran community and their families today to launch Legacy Week 2026 at a commemorative service at the Cenotaph in Martin Place from 11am.
During Legacy Week, thousands of volunteers across Australia will be in the community selling Legacy badges, bears and other merchandise to raise vital funds for veteran families.
Since 1923, Legacy has supported the families of veterans who have died or been seriously injured through military service, providing financial assistance, wellbeing programs, social connection opportunities and educational support.
The Legacy badge is a symbol of support for veterans’ families and the Australian values of mateship, compassion and fairness. In New South Wales, Legacy supports around 10,000 partners and children of veterans who have given their lives or health in service to the nation.
Legacy badges will be available throughout the Sydney CBD and across NSW during the coming week. Every badge purchased and every donation made helps provide life-changing support to veterans’ families, ensuring they receive the care, assistance and opportunities they need today and into the future.
