Leeton Golf Course: Update for 2022/23 Financial Year

Leeton Shire Council

At its August 2023 meeting, Council was presented with an update on the operation of the Leeton Golf Course for the 2022/23 financial year.

While the total number of members decreased from 260 to 259, full memberships increased by five which is a pleasing result for the golf course.

Compared to the previous year (2021-22), the number of rounds played decreased by 19% as a direct result of the excessively wet weather and significant number of course closures observed.

Despite the inclement weather, a series of successful events were able to take place at the golf course. These included the Twilight Golf Finals Series, SunRice Pro-Am and Veterans Week of Golf.

“These events and the use of the golf course in general wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our 45 active volunteers,” said Cr Tracey Morris.

“During the last financial year, they contributed a total of 684 hours of labour across a range of different duties such as mowing, slashing, turf repairs and drainage. We commend them for their tireless efforts in ensuring the golf course always meets the needs of our members.”

The golf course operating costs showed a positive trend with a $5,000 improvement, coming in at $115K compared to the budgeted $120K. This progress is noteworthy considering the unforeseen course closures and the necessary renewal of the 12th green.
