Leisure facilities reopen to public

Council’s leisure facilities will reopen to the public from Saturday 13 June with services and programs operating under some restrictions in line with advice from the State Government.

Eagle Vale Central, Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre, Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre and Macquarie Fields Fitness and Indoor Sports Centre with a booking system now in place to manage pool use.

“Like many in our community, I’m excited to be able to use our pools and gyms again but some of our programs may look a little different for a while as we ensure the health and safety of our community and staff,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“We’ve increased our cleaning in our facilities and have tested our pools to ensure they are safe for use,” Cr Brticevic said.

Swimming pools will be limited to a maximum capacity of 10 people with a timed booking system in place for lap swimming while squad training and aqua classes will return with limits of 10 people per class.

Gyms have been reopened with a maximum capacity limits in place that are in line with NSW Government restrictions and people will be responsible for cleaning the equipment before and after use in addition to increased cleaning in these areas by staff.

An increased cleaning regime has been put in place for steam rooms and change rooms.

Memberships will remain on hold and people can opt in at $8.60 per week.

Leisure centre cafés will operate as takeaway only.
