A Wilson Liberal and Nationals Government will restore energy choice and ease cost of living pressures by scrapping Labor’s ideological gas ban.
Under the Allan Labor Government’s gas ban, new Victorian households and businesses are banned from connecting to the gas network – limiting energy choice, security and forcing consumers into higher cost electric alternatives.
Further, from March 2027, gas hot water systems in existing buildings can only be replaced with electric alternatives.
Unlike Labor, our Liberals and Nationals team understand Victorians value energy choice and the ongoing role of natural gas in our energy mix.
Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, David Davis, said: “Only our Liberals and Nationals team has a plan to restore energy choice and ease cost of living pressures.
“Natural gas has been demonized by Labor for a decade and as a consequence, our state faces higher energy prices, looming gas shortfalls and cold showers in the middle of winter.
“If Labor are re-elected, they cannot be trusted not to ban gas cookers and heaters.
“Labor’s ideological gas ban is bad for Victorians and bad for our economy and the only way to overturn it is to change the government this November.”
