Businesses that are licenced to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises in South Australia can now open to supply food and beverages if they follow new restriction guidelines.
The State Coordinator, Commissioner of Police Grant Stevens has made a Direction in regards to Non-Essential Business and Other Activities.
The Emergency Management (Non-Essential Business and Other Activities No 6) (COVID-19) Direction 2020 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Non-Essential Business and Other Activities No 7) (COVID-19) Direction 2020.
Under the new Direction, if in the normal course of your business you sell food and beverages and have a licence to sell alcohol, you are permitted to do so. This is provided you do not exceed 10 persons outside or 10 persons inside (a maximum of 20). The density requirements (1 person per 4 square metres) apply.
If you wish to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises you can only do so whilst it is consumed in conjunction with a meal.
Patrons must be seated at tables that are physically separate from any bar or other area for taking orders.
This does not change the conditions for businesses who sell takeaway food and/or beverages. This includes takeaway alcohol. However these new provisions do not apply to indoor food courts or indoor markets
This Direction comes into effect immediately.
