Little River checkpoint arrests

Three people have been arrested after attempting to flee a stolen car in Little River.

Officers as part of Operation Sentinel detected a stolen vehicle which had stopped short of the Little River checkpoint about 10.30am on 13 August.

Three people ran from the vehicle but were arrested swiftly by members at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He was remanded to face a children’s court at a later date.

Another 16-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

A 20-year-old Berwick man was charged with theft of motor vehicle and state false name to police.

He has been bailed to appear before Werribee Magistrates Court on 19 April.

Whilst committing the offences, the offenders were also found to be in breach of the directions of the Chief Health Officer and were issued a penalty notice.

The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
