Local Brunswick football club receives funding boost

We are excited to announce the $760,000 refurbishment of the Brunswick Zebras Football Club (FC) changerooms and facilities in Sumner Park, with construction expected to start at the end of this year.

The project will include four modular female friendly accessible changerooms and new amenities, referee change facilities and a first aid room. This will create an inclusive and comfortable environment for players and referees to prepare for games.

We’re pleased to partner with the Victorian State Government and Brunswick Zebras FC to deliver this project, with the Victorian State Government contributing $250,000, Moreland contributing $370,000 and the Brunswick Zebras FC funding $140,000.

The refurbishment is part of our ongoing commitment to women’s sport and the overall health and wellbeing of our community. We know that facilities at clubs play a key factor in encouraging female involvement which is why the creation of these new facilities is so important.

Brunswick Zebras FC is an important part of our local cultural heritage, with the club calling Sumner Park home since 1948, and today includes women and girls’ football, and maintains a base of strong junior teams, and men’s teams.

We’re proud of our Brunswick Zebra FC’s commitment to create a welcoming and supportive environment, their recognition of women in leadership across the club, and importantly offering these new facilities for all of their players.
