The Cook Labor Government is investing almost $800,000 in locally led projects that will support community infrastructure and major events, creating lasting benefits across regional and remote Western Australia.

Since July 2020, Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program has awarded more than $7.4 million to over 770 community initiatives across the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid West, Goldfields and Esperance regions.

Funded initiatives include projects that support the energy transition, improve the sustainability of community facilities and strengthen resilience and preparedness during extreme weather and emergency events.

In addition, funding for major events aims to increase local participation and attract visitors to regional communities. This includes partnerships with the Ord Valley Muster, Shinju Matsuri, Pilbara Pride Festival, Ningaloo Sky Festival and Esperance’s Winter Wonderland.

Successful recipients include eight registered Indigenous corporations, collectively receiving $62,420 in funding to support Aboriginal engagement and cultural participation.
