The Council has partnered with the Victorian Government to ensure support services for people who are feeling isolated or vulnerable due to COVID-19 are available.

The program includes links to support services for emotional wellbeing, practical needs and social activities.

Mayor, Cr Danny Claridge said these support services are important and people who feel they may need help should reach out.

“This pandemic has impacted all of us in different ways and for some people, that impact has been really severe,” Cr Claridge said.

“If you are feeling isolated or are not coping emotionally or physically, seek help. It is available.”

Support is individually tailored and can include emotional support such as a friendly phone call from local volunteers with shared interests, practical help with running errands, helping with technology for video chats with friends and family, online shopping or banking.

Links to local social activities like online book clubs and fitness groups are also available.

The Mayor also said that since the start of the pandemic, the Council has had queries from community members asking how they can help others.

“This program is about linking people within our community.” Cr Claridge said.

“To everyone who has offered to help other people, we thank you. This program is a real and valuable way that people can provide that help.”
