Lotto NZ To Delay Release Of Winning Ticket Locations Until Next Morning: Lotto NZ

Lotto NZ is giving players more time to check if they’re a big winner by delaying the release of winner location information until the morning after each draw.

Winning numbers, prize amounts and the number of winners will continue to be published on draw night.

Information about where winning tickets were sold will be released at 11am the following morning.

The change takes effect from the next draw on Wednesday 8 July and will apply to all Lotto, Powerball and Strike draws.

Lotto NZ Head of Corporate Communications, Will Hine, says the change responds to player feedback, and replicates an approach used during past Powerball Must Be Won draws.

“Players have told us they value having time to check their tickets themselves before seeing where winning tickets were sold,” Hine says.

“This change gives players a wider window to see if they’re a big winner, while ensuring all key prize information continues to be available on draw night.

“Part of the excitement of playing Lotto is checking your own numbers and we want our players to have the chance to enjoy that experience.

“In a world where everything is getting faster and information is always at our fingertips, we’re taking the opportunity to slow things down a bit for the benefit of our players.”

There is no change to how or when players can check their tickets.

From Wednesday 8 July, Powerball, Lotto and Strike draw results will be released as follows:

On draw nights (every Wednesday and Saturday)

Lotto NZ will release the following details:

  • The winning ball numbers

  • The number of winning tickets and the amounts won in Powerball Division 1, Powerball Division 2, Lotto Division 1, Lotto Division 2 and Strike Four.

Following morning (every Thursday and Sunday at 11am)

Lotto NZ will release the following details:

  • The locations where winning tickets were sold across both MyLotto and the retail network for Powerball Division 1, Powerball Division 2, Lotto Division 1, Lotto Division 2 and Strike Four.
