Lyttleton Terrace temporary closure to support Galkangu build

Lyttleton Terrace in-bound to the city centre, between Mundy Street and St Andrews Avenue, on the side of Galkangu – Bendigo GovHub, will soon close to traffic for approximately six weeks.

The partial road closure is expected to take place from January 20, 2022 – March 4, 2022 to shorten the amount of time it takes to complete the next phase of works on the Galkangu – GovHub site.

All other roads around the site will be open and detour signs will be in place. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained, as will pedestrian access to cross Lyttleton Terrace.

City of Greater Bendigo Chief Executive Officer Craig Niemann said during this time traffic would continue to move in one direction along Lyttleton Terrace, on the Town Hall-side of the road.

“The City has approved the partial road closure to allow for the frame of the new building to be craned into place and maintain safety on site,” Mr Niemann said.

“Although the closure will lead to a temporary loss of 11 parking bays along the closed section of Lyttleton Terrace, by closing the road it will reduce the need for future disruptions.

“When the road reopens, the parking bays will be available again, along with some car parking along St Andrews Avenue.

“Short delays may occur in being able to move around the area, so we thank the community for its patience while these works take place.”

Works are subject to weather conditions and road closure dates may change accordingly.
