The Magnetic Places Grant 2026-27 round is open for local artists and cultural practitioners to apply for funding to support projects that magnify and co-author residents’ stories, facilitate creative expression and celebrate neighbourhoods.
The grant focuses on community-led transformation in key neighbourhoods identified by Penrith City Council.
Penrith Mayor Todd Carney said the grant was a great opportunity for artists and residents to connect and express their stories and celebrate belonging in creative ways.
“Since 2007, Magnetic Places has brought over 10,000 Penrith residents together and activated local spaces with creative expressions, from performances, installations, creating art together and free community events,” Cr Carney said.
“The strength of Magnetic Places projects is the personal transformation and social impact that residents and their neighbourhoods experience through the process of art-making and creative expression.”
Applicants can apply for grants of up to $15,000 to deliver an arts project that collaborates with residents to tell their stories and celebrates neighbourhoods. The total grant pool is $50,000.
Key neighbourhoods include Cambridge Park, Colyton, Cranebrook, Kingswood, Kingswood Park, Llandilo, Londonderry, North St Marys, Oxley Park, Penrith (suburb), St Marys and Werrington.
Eligible applicants include professional artists or creative entities with an ABN, incorporated groups, collectives or organisations, and unincorporated groups or collectives that have evidence of auspice from an incorporated organisation with an ABN.
