Major connectivity boost for businesses and households in Braddon

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

Businesses and households across Braddon have received a major connectivity boost with more than 8,500 premises now able to order a full-fibre upgrade on the NBN network.

This number is set to increase to more than 26,200 premises across the electorate by the end of 2025 thanks to Albanese Government’s $2.4 billion commitment to bolster full-fibre connections across the country.

Fibre can deliver speeds 18x faster than the average copper broadband connection, and is less likely to drop out or degrade.

Full-fibre connections boost the reliability of services and productivity for businesses, and support the fast-evolving ways Australians work, study and interact online.

NBN users save more than 100 hours and $2,580 per year in avoided travel time and costs, in working from home and undertaking tasks online.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Communications, the Hon Michelle Rowland MP:

“Average data usage in Australia has increased ten times over the past ten years, with the average home now hosting 21 internet-connected or smart devices.

“As Australia’s connectivity needs continue to grow, the Albanese Government is investing in the economic infrastructure for the future.”

“Our $2.4 billion investment in the NBN is boosting businesses productivity and enabling households to take full advantage of high-speed broadband – whether it be videoconferencing for work, enjoying high-definition movies or next-level gaming.”

Quotes attributable to Senator Anne Urquhart, Senator for Tasmania:

“The Albanese Government is delivering on its plan to improve broadband across Australia – including regional communities across Braddon.”

“This is an exciting day for businesses and households; I encourage locals to see if they are eligible for a full-fibre upgrade and all the benefits it will deliver.”
