Tamplin Field at Hobartville is set to undergo a major redevelopment, transforming the site into a modern sporting and recreation hub for the Hawkesbury community.
The project will deliver significant upgrades to sporting and community infrastructure, supporting local clubs, schools, families and visitors with improved spaces for sport, recreation and social connection.
Key features of the redevelopment include:
- An upgraded 8-lane 400m athletics track, including a 10-lane 100m sprint track
- Integrated natural turf sporting field with field event areas for shot put, discus, long jump and javelin
- New multi-use courts
- Reconstruction of the amenities building with tiered seating
- New play space and fitness station
- New car parking, pathways, irrigation and drainage
- Social gathering spaces including BBQ facilities and seating
Tamplin Field currently supports a wide range of community activities including rugby league, little athletics, dog training, school sports and personal training activities. The redevelopment will ensure the facility continues to meet the growing needs of the community now and into the future.

Mayor of Hawkesbury, Les Sheather said the redevelopment represents a major investment in community infrastructure across the Hawkesbury.
“This project will create a high-quality and accessible sporting and recreation space for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy for years to come,” Mayor Sheather said.
“The upgraded facilities will support local sporting organisations while also providing valuable open space and recreational opportunities for the wider community.”
A ceremonial sod turning event was held at Tamplin Field on Thursday, 3 September 2026, marking the official commencement of construction on the major redevelopment project.
Representatives from Hawkesbury City Council, local sporting groups and community stakeholders have attended the event to celebrate the beginning of this significant community investment.
The project is proudly funded NSW Government Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
Completion anticipated by the end of December 2027, weather permitting.
