Major SACE exam period begins today

More than 12,500 SACE students from 209 schools across South Australia are preparing for the final step of their secondary studies, with the major Stage 2 written exam period starting today.

The Mathematical Methods exam will be held this morning, followed by the Essential Mathematics exam this afternoon.

The main period of exams is until Monday 15 November, with some language examinations continuing until Monday 29 November.

The most popular subjects with written exams this year include General Mathematics, Biology and Psychology.

Students will sit electronic exams in thirteen SACE subjects, including English Literary Studies, Modern History and Geography.

Minister for Education John Gardner wished students all the best during the exam period.

“I want to congratulate the class of 2021 for reaching this important milestone in their secondary schooling,” said Minister Gardner.

“I’m incredibly proud of all their hard work that has brought them to this point, particularly during such uncertain times with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Exam time can prove to be very stressful for students, but it’s important to keep going and remember that you have a support network of friends, family and teachers to draw upon.

“While this is an opportunity for students to show off what they have learned, it’s also important to remember these exams are just one part of their schooling journey and won’t define their pathway beyond school.

“I know all South Australians will be wishing our SACE students well today.”

SACE Board Chief Executive Professor Martin Westwell encouraged students to focus on their wellbeing as well during this exam period.

“Everyone approaches study in a different way, so trust what works for you. Focus on your abilities and take time to look after your wellbeing as this will positively impact how you perform,” said Professor Westwell.

As COVID restrictions have now eased within school settings, all students sitting written examinations will not need to wear face masks.

Students will receive their SACE results on Monday 13 December.
